Terms of Service

Effective: April 22, 2026

By signing up for Texas Tax Lock, you agree to these terms. We've tried to write them in plain English. If something is unclear, email us at support@texastaxlock.com.

1. Who we are

"Texas Tax Lock" is a Texas-based residential property tax protest service. Our mailing address is PO BOX 16598, Fort Worth, TX 76162. In these terms, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Texas Tax Lock. "You" refers to the person signing up for our service, and where applicable, the property owner(s) authorizing us to represent them.

2. What we do

We provide residential property tax protest representation in the State of Texas. Specifically, we:

We serve only residential properties in Texas counties. We do not provide legal advice, and our service is not a substitute for independent legal counsel.

3. Appointment of Agent

To represent you, Texas law requires you to sign an Appointment of Agent form (Texas Comptroller Form 50-162). We will email you a pre-filled copy after you sign up. You agree to sign and return this form promptly. We cannot file your protest without it.

4. Fees and payment

Our fees are flat per property and disclosed at signup. Fees are based on the appraised notice value of the property, with time-based pricing as the protest deadline approaches. You pay at signup.

We do not charge a contingency fee, a percentage of tax savings, or any additional fee based on the outcome of your protest. What you pay at signup is the total fee for that property's protest representation.

Payment is processed by Stripe. By signing up, you authorize us to charge the payment method you provide for the disclosed fee.

5. Refunds

Our refund policy depends on when you cancel and why:

5.1 Full refund — before we file your protest. If you notify us in writing (email to support@texastaxlock.com) that you want to cancel, and we have not yet submitted your Notice of Protest to the appraisal district, we will issue a full refund of the fee paid for that property, minus any payment-processing fees charged by Stripe that are non-recoverable.

5.2 No refund — after we file your protest. Once we have submitted your Notice of Protest to the appraisal district, the fee is earned and non-refundable. The work of filing, building evidence, and negotiating has begun. This applies whether or not a reduction is ultimately secured.

5.3 Full refund — when we cannot represent you. If, after reviewing your property, we determine there is no reasonable basis to pursue a protest, or if a conflict of interest prevents us from representing you, we will refund your fee in full and decline representation.

5.4 Full refund — signup after the filing deadline. If you sign up after the deadline to file a protest has already passed for your property, and there is no procedural basis for a late protest, we will refund your fee in full. The protest deadline for most Texas properties is May 15 or 30 days after your Notice of Appraised Value is mailed, whichever is later.

5.5 Full refund — our failure to file on time. If we accept your signup and signed Appointment of Agent form in time to file but fail to do so before the applicable deadline, we will refund your fee in full. This does not include situations where you failed to return a signed Appointment of Agent form, failed to provide requested information, or provided inaccurate information.

5.6 No refund — customer non-cooperation. If we are unable to represent you because you failed to return the Appointment of Agent form, failed to respond to requests for information or decisions, or provided materially inaccurate information, no refund is owed.

5.7 How refunds are processed. Approved refunds are issued back to the original payment method via Stripe within 5–10 business days. Chargebacks initiated with your card issuer before contacting us may result in our declining future service.

6. What we do not guarantee

Property tax protests are adversarial proceedings with an independent review authority. We cannot and do not guarantee:

We commit to professional effort and qualified representation on every case, regardless of outcome. Past results do not guarantee future results.

7. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

Failure to do any of the above may prevent us from successfully representing you, and does not entitle you to a refund.

8. Scope of representation

Our representation covers the current year's protest for the property or properties listed at signup. Representation ends when the final assessed value is established for the applicable tax year, or when we are notified that the case is withdrawn or closed.

Representation does not cover: lawsuits against the appraisal district, property tax litigation in district court, attorney fees, homestead exemption filings, tax payment arrangements, or any matter outside the informal protest and ARB hearing process.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate the relationship in writing at any time. If you terminate after we have filed your protest, no refund is owed. If we terminate (for example, because of a conflict of interest or because information provided proves materially inaccurate), we will refund any unearned fees and notify the appraisal district of our withdrawal.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to this service is limited to the fees you paid us for the protest in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost tax savings, lost profits, or loss of business opportunity.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Tarrant County, Texas, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated terms at this URL and update the "Effective" date at the top. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
